How the trip estimate is calculated
Fuel needed = total distance ÷ mileage. Fuel cost = litres needed × price per litre. Tolls, parking and other charges are then added to give the total trip cost. The equal per-person estimate divides this total by the number of people.
The starting example is 500 km, 20 km per litre, ₹120 per litre and four people. That gives 25 litres, ₹3,000 in fuel and ₹750 each before extras. These are editable examples, not current fuel prices or a claim about your vehicle.
Enter the values that fit your journey
Type directly into a number box for any valid value. The slider is only a shortcut: typing a longer distance, higher price or larger group will keep your value. Mileage must be greater than zero, and people must be a whole number of at least one. Negative amounts are not used.
Round trip doubles the one-way distance for the fuel calculation. Extra charges are amounts for the entire journey, including the return journey, and are added once.

- See fuel needed, fuel cost per kilometre, the total and an equal per-person estimate.
- Copy result to paste the estimate into your group chat.
- Create a trip picture to review, download or share the estimate as an image.
Use mileage from your own driving
Driving style, traffic, speed, load and conditions affect fuel use. Enter the mileage you observe in conditions similar to your planned trip and check your local fuel price. This calculator estimates fuel and the extra costs you enter; it does not automatically add vehicle wear, insurance or other ownership costs.
The split is an equal estimate. If people pay different amounts, join for only part of the trip or cover different expenses, the Split Bill Calculator offers more ways to divide costs.
Frequently asked questions
›Can I share a trip-cost picture?
Create trip picture prepares a downloadable PNG with the current whole-trip estimate, fuel assumptions and equal-cost comparisons for two, three and four travellers. Add an optional trip title. Native image sharing depends on your browser; PNG download remains available.
›Can I enter values beyond the sliders?
Yes. Type your value into the number box. The sliders offer quick ranges, but do not cap typed values. The calculator rejects invalid or negative numbers, zero mileage, fractional people and values too large for accurate browser calculations.
›Are the starting fuel prices live?
No. ₹120 per litre is an editable example. Replace it with the price you expect to pay at your local fuel station.
›Does round trip also double tolls and parking?
No. Round trip doubles the driving distance only. Enter the total tolls, parking and other charges for both legs yourself; they are added once.
›How can I share the trip cost?
Use Copy result to paste the breakdown into a chat, or Create trip picture to review and share an image. The page Share icon sends only the tool address, without the entered trip values.
›Can I use this for petrol and diesel?
Yes. It works for fuel priced per litre when mileage is measured in kilometres per litre. It is not a CNG-by-kilogram or electric vehicle charging calculator.
