Profile Picture CropperProfile Picture Cropper — Choose, Position, Download

About Profile Picture Cropper

Choose a photo, drag your face into place and download your profile picture. A large circle preview shows the framing, and a small preview shows how it looks in a chat. Keep the default square download for social apps, or choose a circle with transparent corners for a design.

Star keeps a shortcut to this tool in your browser. Share sends the tool link without your entered details or files. Use the tool’s own export controls for its finished output.

Three simple steps

Circle view shows the part normally visible in an app, with the square corners shaded. Square view shows the complete square download. The shaded guide and positioning lines are only part of the editor.

  • Choose a clear photo from your device. A sharp original gives you more room to crop.
  • Drag the photo in the preview. Use Enlarge photo for a closer headshot, or Keep whole photo to fit the entire image inside the circle.
  • Download your picture. Square is the default for a social profile upload; the app normally displays it as a circle.

Keep your face clear at a small size

Your profile picture is often shown beside a message or comment. Use the small chat preview to check that your face is recognisable, with enough space around your hair and chin.

A close-up fills the frame. When you want the whole photo, the tool fits it within the circle and adds your choice of blur, solid colour, gradient or transparency around it. Making the photo smaller creates more space to move it.

Extra styling when you want it

Filters and borders are optional. Open that section for black and white, vintage, vivid, cool or warm looks, plus brightness and contrast. Add a solid-colour or gradient circle border and adjust its thickness.

Download settings offer 512, 1,024 or 2,048 pixels per side. Larger downloads preserve your chosen framing, but cannot recover detail missing from a small original photo. All editing happens in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

›What should I do first?

Choose a photo, drag it in the large preview until your face is comfortably inside the circle, then press Download profile picture. The default settings already produce a 512 × 512 square PNG for a profile upload.

›Why does my photo only move in one direction?

At its starting size, the photo may already touch both edges in one direction. Enlarge photo to create more room to move. If you want to show every edge, choose Keep whole photo and reduce Photo size instead.

›Why is the preview a circle but the default download a square?

Many social apps accept a square image and display it as a circle. The circle preview helps you frame the part people will see. Square view shows the complete file. You can also choose Circle in Download settings to export a PNG with transparent corners.

›Can I make a circular image for a website or presentation?

Yes. In Download settings, choose Circle · transparent corners. The PNG contains a circular picture with transparent corners. The circle guide is not added to the download.

›Can I add a coloured border or keep my full photo?

Yes. Filters & borders includes a solid-colour or gradient circle border. Keep whole photo fits the full image inside the circle and offers blurred, solid-colour, gradient or transparent backgrounds.

›Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Your photo is processed in your browser, and the finished PNG downloads directly to your device.
