Choose whether the end date counts

From 1 July to 5 July, excluding 5 July counts four days: 1, 2, 3 and 4 July. Including it counts five. A range starting and ending on the same date therefore has zero excluded-end days or one included-end day.

The checkbox changes this arithmetic only. Contracts, leave policies, immigration rules and statutory deadlines may define counting differently; confirm the applicable instructions before relying on a result.

How calendar months are counted

The calendar difference takes full years, then full months, then remaining days. When a month lacks the starting day number, the date is clamped to that month's final day: 31 January to 28 February in a non-leap year counts as one month.

Calendar months have different lengths. The years/months/days display and the total-day count describe the same range in different ways; neither defines a contractual or legal period.

Custom working days

Saturday and Sunday are selected as weekends initially. Change those choices to match your schedule, including a six-day week or a different weekly rest day.

Enter holiday dates as YYYY-MM-DD separated by commas. Repeated dates count once. Holidays outside the counted range are ignored; holidays already on a selected weekend are not deducted twice. No public holiday calendar is automatically applied.

Frequently asked questions

›Can I make a countdown picture for an event?

Yes. After selecting the period, add an optional event name and a countdown reference date. The postcard shows calendar progress and milestones. Start, event and reference dates stay off the picture until you choose to include them. Working-day totals still use your selected weekends and holidays.

›How are working days calculated?

The tool counts the chosen date range, removes the selected weekend days, then removes supplied holidays that fall on remaining days. It supports up to 366 distinct holiday dates.

›Does it include leap years?

Yes. It uses valid calendar dates, including 29 February in leap years.

›Can I choose a Friday/Saturday weekend?

Yes. Select Friday and Saturday and clear Sunday. Any combination of weekend days is supported.

›Can I use it for visa or legal deadlines?

Use it only as an arithmetic aid. It does not apply jurisdiction-specific deadlines, visa counting rules, official holidays or special exceptions.
